Hotel-State College PA

More than likely, you have never been aware of a tiny borough in PA referred to as State College. This simply named town is really a big college town with lots of activities to discover. It also has got the unconventional nickname of “Happy Valley”. if you have heard of it, you already know that State College is where the Penn State Univerity campus is. It is a little community with a massive university, and so the area has many events that can bring in 1000s of folks. So, let’s discuss a few of these occurrences and you will understand why they refer to it as Happy Valley.

I might be regretful not to point out the PSU Football team when speaking of travel to State College. They may be undoubtedly the most important draw, as much as State College tourism applies. You can find tons of State College Hotels that might be out of business, if the PSU football season dissapeared. Just consider that Beaver Stadium, home of the PSU Nittany Lions, holds above one hundred thousand people. State College is likewise well-known for its Tail Gating culture so a home game is much like the largest celebration you have possibly ever been to. Even as the game is in progress and ticket holders are inside the stadium, I’d gamble there are nevertheless several 1000’s of folks that stay in the lots which encircle the arena. These people pay attention to the game on the radio or bring portable antennas to look at it on television, it is quit a site to view.

As you would speculate numerous travelers rent hotel rooms for the weekend or camp out out around the arena in RVs as well as tents. These accommodations prospects can become a little expensive depending on how you view them. State College is full of what I have to say are very nice hotels and motels and other lodging, that I think are reasonably priced. Nonetheless, just like any additional vacationer type city, when the football games are going on, guess exactly what happens? The rates go way up! At this point, it might appear cheaper to buy a parking pass and camp close to the stadium however you have to be careful when you do this because it not a park, so you can’t just wing it and I don’t have to tell you how expensive it could be to buy and operate an RV. Some fans have resorted to finding houses that are offered for home game weekends and rent them instead. This is especially prudent if you travel with a big group and simply divide the expense out among every person, rather than everyone renting rooms.

If you reside close to State College, then there is a strong possibility that you have heard of the Dance Marathon, often known as just “Thon”. The students put it on every year and they raise money for childhood cancer for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital. The first dance goes clear back to 1973 and it grown exponentially ever since.

It takes about 15,000 student volunteers to put Thon together. As huge as the dance is, I am not sure how many people journey into State College for it. I recognize that it raises a ton of money and that the Four Diamonds Fund is huge for the National Cancer Society. Thon is a year round deal now, so that much more people go inside and outside of State College than most people believe. Either way, it’s a fantastic tradition that helps a lot of kids, so I thought I would plug it, just cause I can. Eventhough they do many additional events, the two day long dance marathon is generally held in February.

One more of the biggest events that people travel to State College every year for is the PA Festival of the Arts or a/k/a Arts Fest. Arts Fest happens every July right in the heart of the downtown and pulls 1000’s of consumers from the local surroundings as well as from across the world. It entails way more than it’s name implies. Yes, it had small roots and started off as an outdoor artwork exhibit but now, the several day function is a lot more. Art’s fest has something for everyone. Combined with the usual art, sculpture, music, food and drink, jewelry and crafts, there’s a kid’s day, where the kids are vendors along with face painting and, well you get the idea.

Arts Festival happens during the warm months when many students are no longer on campus but you would not realize it for those who have ever visited the festivities. The downtown is not actually set up for that much influx. State College is a suburb with a big campus, so parking and lodging can be problems. Since Arts fest is a several day event, it can get quit expensive, specifically if you are merchant and need to set up, attend every day and then tare down. Like mentioned previously with the football games, a lot of families share lodging or rent an entire home and divided the expenses, rather than renting hotel rooms in the State College area.

I woul like to conclude with the following. To me, the reason that more and more people travel to State College every year is because the University is just a great institution that many people would like to be associated with. I have heard this many times but I can not confirm it but several people have told me that more PSU students return to State College to live than any other college, and I believe it. The big little town is such a social hot spot that once people live there, they long for it and want to get back to it. You might think, well, many folks miss college after they graduate but I am talking about individuals who leave the area, work a complete profession in another state or city and then go back to State College once they retire. So, if you are thinking about State College travel, you better be careful, you will possibly not ever want to return back home.

Is It Possible To Find Cheap Flights?

September 2, 2010 by Rosanne Garrison · Leave a Comment

Flying anywhere can be expensive. Even a short hop to a nearby location can end up costing you a lot of money. When you search for flights, you also have to make certain the quoted price is for a round-trip fare. Some search engines do not automatically give you the round-trip prices. You may find yourself paying too much for just a one-way ticket. There are ways, however, to find cheap flights.

Another thing that you have to take under consideration is the fact that most airlines now charge you to check baggage. You have to pay a fee for each piece that you wish to check-in. You could end up paying a lot of money, if you are going on a particularly long trip. There are very few airlines that still provide free checked bag services. The few that still do, also usually limit you to just a single bag. This just adds more money on to your air travel expenses.

The bad news, though, is that there is really no one website that will always provide you with the cheapest airfares. Most times, you will have to check multiple sites. Doing so, however lets you compare prices for available flights and pick the cheapest one.

There are aggregators that allow you to search multiple flights at once. They are very handy for comparing flight details and prices. They also make it easy to see which options might be cheaper. Many flights that have lay-overs can be much cheaper than non-stop flights.

To get even better price options, most of them also let you vary search details. If you have flexible travel dates, you can generally search within a few days of your preferred date to see if there is a cheaper flight. Being flexible in your plans can help save you money. Most airlines have days and times where they are not as busy, so fares are generally much lower.

You should also try not to plan your trip on days that are considered premium for travel. You should try to avoid weekends and holidays. Airlines know they will be busy then, so they raise their prices on those days to make more money. You can save a lot if you are willing to fly on alternative days.

It can also be wise to check other nearby airports. Most large cities have more than one and sometimes flying out of a less popular hub can be much cheaper. The airlines there are not usually as busy and they really want to sell tickets. It is just not cost effective for them to fly mostly empty planes.

You should also make sure you plan ahead. If you book your flight early, you can usually get much cheaper tickets. Flying last minute usually costs a premium price. The smartest thing to do is to buy your tickets, at least two weeks in advance of your trip.

Cheap flights can be found if you just do some careful shopping. Some time and determination is all it really takes. You could end up saving a significant amount of money. You cannot complain if it leaves you more to spend while enjoying your vacation.

There is nothing worse than getting mugged while on vacation. http://www.travelagencyreviews.net It always makes sense to look around before jumping on the first deal you see. Certain locations have different seasons during the year.

Tropical North Queensland is full of wonderful activities throughout the year with a multitude of festivals and events that may fill your days and nights of pleasure. It is a generous land rich in beauty and adventure and the many festivals in September can help bridge the gap between good food and relaxing on the beach. Many of these events are free or relatively cheap which makes them a great way to pass time while in Australia.

September is a time for fun and festivals like the Sunwater Burdekin Water Festival and the Port Hinchinbrook Fishing Classic you’ll find that the fun does not stop immediately. The Water Festival is a week long event that offers a festival parade and Mardi Gras type festival that begins with incredible food from around the world. The Classic is a fishing competition which temps the fisherman with a prize of about $ 50,000 in cash and trophies in many competitive categories. Both events are great fun for those who want to participate and for those who just want to go out and look.

Sunferries Magnetic Island Race Week is an incredible five day event and one that you’ll really appreciate if you are in the region in early September. This event is an annual sailing regatta which takes place at the beautiful Magnetic Island and all races are held from Peppers Blue. This amazing event is a lot of fun with many activities for spectators to attend as well.

Cairns is a wonderful city to visit and if you love music and history, then you’ll want to be sure and attend the City Reggae Festival. This event is a celebration of 12 hours and takes place in the Aboriginal Cultural Park, which allows you a chance to visit and learn about one of the original cultures of the earth while enjoying the music and Reggae. Three stages will host shows during the long day and will include a variety of groups from Jamaica, New Zealand and Africa, plus some local bands as well. This is a fabulous outdoor event that is fun for the whole family.

The incredible thing about the Tropical North Queensland is that there are always different events and festivals taking place about the region so if you can’t make it during the many festivities of September, not to worry. There are plenty events being held in this region the whole year through.

Cool Hotels In San Antonio

One of the issues with San Antonio can sometimes be that it actually offers too many choices! When it comes to hotels, it not only has a whole bunch, but they’re all excellent. And in reality, there’s not much to go by (at first glance), if trying to decide which one to go for. However, there is one criteria that is important, and will change your decision. I’ll present it now.

So where do we start? Well, I think we should start with what I believe are the two best locations in town. There are other locations, of course, but these two are on top of the list. In my estimate, the top location to near to is the river-walk, and an almost equally as beneficial location is actually the city center, which is oddly enough right next to the infamous Alamo.

The river-walk has its many advantages. I’d say this location is for the person who likes social activities and being surrounded by people. It is full during the entire day, with people walking about and dining in the restaurants alongside it. At night, it turns into a party scene. If you’re into bustling activities full of people, then this is it for you.

But yes, its also true, that not everyone likes being close to “the action”. The city center, actually, though full at day, unlike the river-walk is extremely quiet and serene at night. This location is better for you, if you want to feel like you’re away from “everything”.

Now, location isn’t everything, but in my mind it should be 90% of your decision in this case, as otherwise, the hotels are pretty evenly matched. The only difference might be in their service. To assess this, I’d recommend simply calling them up, and asking them what they offer. You can see how helpful they are, by this simple phone test.

Perhaps now the next step is to seek out one of the very best san antonio hotels. The only way you can seek out this is by doing research. Plan where you want to go first and then this next step will be easier.

Louisville Slugger Museum: The Best Baseball Family Trip Possible

August 25, 2010 by Mike Woods · Leave a Comment

Baseball fans everywhere live baseball. If your family does too, then you must plan a baseball vacation. And top of your list must be the Louisville Slugger Museum.

This museum is much more than just that, it is also the factory where Louisville Sluggers are still made today, and have been since 1884. When you go there, you may hold a bit of history in your hands. This is the home of the great baseball bats of stars past and present. You get a chance to swing those bats when you visit. And if you really want to see one of the greatest bats of all time, then you must see the bat Babe Ruth used to hit the 60 home runs of his 1927 winning season.

When you take the factory tour, you will see how and where bats have been made since 1884. Known as the Official Bat of Major League Baseball, the bats are famous worldwide. If you like, you can have a bat personalized for you to take home. And everyone who takes the tour is given a free miniature Louisville Slugger.

If you are a history buff, you will enjoy spending some time in the galleries just soaking up the sights of the great games and top players. Memorabilia is everywhere, and there are lots of interactive spots throughout the site to help everyone get their hands on the bats.

Leaning against the building outside is the Big Bat. People come from all over to see it. You cannot miss it because it stands 120 feet long with a 9 foot diameter at its base. Made of carbon steel, and hollow inside, it is still hefty at 68,000 pounds. A photo with it is a must for many tourists.

Plan to spend the day when you come to the museum. You will want to roam around the various exhibits, and take the factory tour. Keep in mind that the factory is not in production on Saturdays and Sundays. So if you really want to see how the bats are made, you will want to visit during the weekdays. You can also have your birthday party there, with lots of time allotted for the batting cages and birthday cake, too.

Whether you come from near or far, and over 2 million people have come to visit the museum and factory, you may want to find a great place to stay in Louisville. Centrally located in the heart of Louisville and just 4 easy blocks from the museum is the Galt House Hotel. The hotel offers accommodations ranging from waterfront balcony rooms, to extended stay apartments. With 1290 guest rooms, including 650 suites, its amenities and service, and close proximity to all the best visitor spots make it a top choice for vacations.

At the Galt Hotel, a full schedule of city activities is made available so that visitors may include festive local attractions to their must do lists. The hotel is the central hub for information about interests ranging from sporting events to fine arts performances, weddings, reunions, and all sorts of fun day trips. Part of their excellent service includes concierge help for planning the things that interest you.

And, if you wish, the Louisville Slugger Museum also has several group plans that could be tailored to include not only the museum, but also some of the most popular tourist activities in the city. You will touch a bit of history when you come, and may just leave with a lifetime of memories.

Traveling is a great way to experience new cultures and broaden your horizons but not everyone has the finances to do so. Fortunately, there are companies that subsidize the cost of traveling for their employees. This makes taking faraway trips possible for individuals and families who never could otherwise.

Many employees find discount travel a much appreciated part of their benefit package. Companies partner with various travel agencies to arrange special deals for employees to various holiday destinations. This can include domestic and international trips.

So, if your employer uses a specific travel agency for all of their corporate travel, they may receive in exchange, select discounts for its employees.

Those employed by travel agencies typically receive generous discounts on personal travel. Their company may even reimburse for travel expenses such as hotels, food and transit. They get special discounts because of the relationship they have established with various businesses in vacation destinations.

Some employees may even get lucky enough to have their employers pay for the cost of international calls related to their personal trips. Some programs provide discount coupons to events, places and restaurants as an added bonus.

Employees of airlines and railways often are allowed to travel free to many locations. Their families are sometimes included and receive first class accommodations.

Some companies are so committed to providing discounted travel opportunities to their employees that they occasionally become agents. They search out businesses that are looking for to serve travelers by providing discounts and match them with companies looking to offer discounted travel programs to their staff.

Experience A Great Hotel Stay At Auckland New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country and a crowd pleasing tourist destination. It also plays hosts to both native and foreign business travelers in large numbers. However, it does not matter whether you come to Auckland for commercial reasons or on vacation, you absolutely must make reservations for your lodging prior to arriving. Here is some information that will facilitate your getting the best deal on hotel rates.

At the risk of belaboring the obvious, your best approach to finding bargains in hotel rates in Auckland or anyplace else is through the Internet. You will spare yourself a great deal of bother and overspending if you decide to make your reservation online, rather than sitting down with a travel agent. Moreover, you may find an offer for reduced rates or a bonus coupon. Be sure, though, that you deal with a reliable travel website.

Also, you can keep your trip on budget by reserving a room at a hotel advertising “basic amenities only.” Auckland is Bargain City not only with respect to lodging, but also when it comes to sights, activities, and diversions. What a waste it would be if you chose to entertain yourself within the hotel grounds and never ventured out. Get out and experience Auckland at its best. Besides, what else are you going to do with the up to 60% savings from choosing a modest hotel over the five-star venues?

If you choose a motor hotel rather than a conventional hotel, you are likely to spend less on a room. There are many motels in Auckland and they offer a variety of lodging situations, from your basic room to private cottages, all featuring en-suite bath and kitchens. You can also expect some additional amenities, such as a pool. With a motel, you are not paying for the sort of things that you expect from a luxury hotel. However, you will not be as close to the center of Auckland as if you had chosen a hotel. Nonetheless, that is not a showstopper, as it is easy to acquire transportation downtown, either in the form of a rental car or public transport. Location being a factor in room rates, cheaper accommodations can be had at hotels near the municipal airport or in the suburban areas.

Your best bet for getting the most reasonable rates available for a room in an Auckland hotel is to wait til the last minute to make your reservation. “What”, you say, “did I hear you correctly?” Yes, you want to delay making your booking til at most four weeks before you make your trip. Okay, a month doesn’t sound like the last minute, but with that timing, you can still get a startlingly good discount on your room rate. All you need to do is to check your travel websites daily to see what “short rate” deals pop up. You won’t have to wait long. And don’t worry that you will end up with no rooms left to book. Auckland is replete with all sorts of hotels and motels, from modest to mammoth in size.

If you are looking for the cheapest hotels then simply go over to Chris’ website. They have the lowest prices on hotels guaranteed.
