When traveling around the country, trying to see all of the great natural and manmade wonders that the US has to offer, South Dakota and Mount Rushmore is certainly at the top of the list. While your choices are vast and the places to visit are varied, there is something special about seeing the sculpted faces of those great presidents staring down from the mountain. Along with certain monuments in Washington D.C. this is a US historic monument that should be visited if possible.

There are many other man made wonders that are also worth your time to visit. Starting with the arch in St. Louis, then the Empire State Building in New York. Of course, let us not forget to mention the recognizable lady of our country, The Statue of Liberty, in New York.

The launch pad at Cape Canaveral and a Space Shuttle launch is an amazing experience to see in person. There is just something about feeling the roar of the huge engines as it hurtles towards space. A day launch is cool, but seeing a launch that lights up the night or early morning sky is even cooler.

There are so many cool places to visit and experience, but there is something special about Rushmore. Work on the sculpture started in 1927 and was not completed until 1941. The estimated cost of the project was just under one million dollars and over 400 tons of rock was removed for the sculpture. Every year, according to the national park service, over three million visitors move through the park and marvel at the feat. The park is located in the famous Black Hills of South Dakota and there are plenty of outdoor activities for visitors to experience.

There are organized events for visitors and if you sign up early enough and your application is accepted, your scout troop can participate in the flag raising ceremony in front of the monument. Many outdoor activities are available from hiking and fishing and camping in the camp ground area. It is a great learning experience and is truly a sight to behold and brings a sense of wonder and awe to children and adults of all ages. It is a piece of America and American history that should be experienced by every American.

Traveling on international flights can cost a large sum of money. However, if you log onto www.expedia.com.au you can find Cheap Airfares to make your travel dreams come true.

Planning A Vacation Utilizing Internet Resources

Putting together a last minute trip is a hassle, and if it were not for the internet, would almost be impossible. The internet, though bad on so many levels, is certainly a benefit when it comes to booking last minute holidays and vacations. Imagine all of the long distance phone calls and calls to operators for numbers and all the people you would need to talk to before you could book a decent room and a flight to your destination.

If you are planning to utilize air travel in order to reach your vacation destination, You will have to conduct a telephone call to all airline in order to encounter flight arrangements and the price of flights and what flights were currently available. The same would be true for your boarding accommodation when you eventually reach your destination. If you were traveling to New York City, you would have to in some way acquire the telephone numbers to half a dozen accommodations, view a map to confirm that they were located in the area that you desire to stay and then contact every one of them to obtain rates as well as the accommodation availability.

Working with a travel agent is one way to avoid making all those phone calls, and doing hours of map searches. However, they are often more concerned with how much they will make from your travel arrangement, instead of how much money they can save you. When you book with a travel agent you are never sure if you are getting the best price available, and therefore may end up spending hundreds more then you could have if you did the research on your own.

All of these hassle and hidden expenses can be avoided these days, although there are probably a lot of unemployed travel agents floating around. Thanks to the power of the internet, or what used to be referred to as the information superhighway, but that, much like travel agents are outdated and irrelevant.

Looking for a hotel room? Search the internet. Want to schedule your flight? Search the internet. Whether it is deciding on where to visit or book a rental car, you can do it all on the internet. There are no phone calls, no worries about getting the best deals and no hours spent on talking to people who are not wanting to help you unless you are planning on making your purchase or reservation with them. The internet is the fast, simple and friendly way to plan you vacations, whether they are last minute plans or for the following year. Everything can be done with a few clicks of your mouse.

There is enough to do in London for an entire lifetime and any tourist is in for a cultural banquet. Some of Britain’s most popular art galleries are in London and the majority are free; these galleries offer a diverse range of art from priceless classics to contemporary installations. If you’re concerned about fitting everything into one weekend, don’t worry as most public art galleries have late opening hours.

SeaWorld, The Orlando Experience That Many Overlook

Orlando is recognized for several things. One of those things are outstanding resort areas like Walt Disney World and each of the park lands that accompany Disney, such as, Islands of Adventure and Downtown Disney. In addition to all the local restaurants and golfing. Although these areas are great and can make for wonderful vacation memories, there is one park that is often overlooked by visitors to the Orlando area. This fabulous park, that many never seem to find time to visit is SeaWorld.

SeaWorld is an awesome theme park that is half amusement park and half educational experience. While there is a lot of learning to be had at SeaWorld, there is even more fun to be had. There are so many attractions and shows, that you might not even find time to go on the rides.

The Busch family, owners of Busch Gardens, are also the owners and operators of SeaWorld. Therefore, when it comes to the rides you know that they will be nothing less than spectacular and exciting. The Busch family is known for their thrill rides and they have set up a few outstanding ones at SeaWorld. Besides a cool roller coaster and an even cooler water roller coaster, the animal attractions and exhibits are like none found anywhere else in the world.

SeaWorld is naturally home base to the most notable killer whale on the globe, Shamu and her fellowship. The animals are naturally the primary attractor and SeaWorld spares no expense handling the animals as though they are the stars of of the park, and in fact they are just that. They are substantially attended to and handled as though they are members of the family. The Shamu show and the walrus and seal show are in all probability two of the highlights of any trip to the park. The penguin house and the water ski demonstrate are likewise distinguished attractions.

One of my personal favorites includes the polar bear expedition. This exhibit has polar bears that live in cool, almost frozen waters, that makes them feel they are in their native land. I also enjoyed taking a look at the Narwhal. This animal is something that you will seldom see, and will never get the chance to see it roaming in the wild.

The park is an excellent place to see, particularly for those adolescent oceanographers that may be in the household. It truly is a discovering experience masked as an amusement park. It will make up a day that the entire family will remember for years to come. You are able to buy passes that include both parks, Busch Gardens and SeaWorld for a specialized cost. It is just a short trip from Tampa to Orlando. There are shuttles available in both directions.

Cheap Flights from www.expedia.com make traveling during the holidays to see family much simplier. You can just look online and check out their great discounts and even international flights.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountain town of Asheville, N.C., the Biltmore Estate is one of the nation’s top tourist destinations. The National Historic Landmark, which was built by George Vanderbilt II, boasts 250 rooms within its 175,000 square feet; this is three times larger than the White House.

There are a myriad of activities available at the Biltmore Estate. Travelers can tour the mansion, which, in addition to rooms filled with priceless furnishings and artwork, includes 65 fireplaces, an indoor pool and a bowling alley. There is a winery offering tours and tastings. The grounds include River Bend Farm, which recreates a 19th-century farm.

In addition, guests can go biking or hiking, take a horseback or carriage ride or even enjoy a little fly-fishing. River float trips are often available along the French Broad River, which runs through the property.

While rooms are available at the Biltmore Estate, booking a reservation at one of Asheville’s romantic and historic bed and breakfast inns is a better value.

The Asheville Seasons Bed and Breakfast is an ideal choice. The historic Asheville inn is located within walking distance of the downtown area in the Historic District of Montford. It’s just five minutes from the Biltmore Estate and only 10 minutes from the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.

There are five beautifully decorated guest suites at this Asheville bed and breakfast, most of which have a working fireplace. Guests are pampered with amenities such as fluffy robes, Kingsdown beds topped with fine linens, private baths stocked with lotions and bath salts and, of course, a homemade full breakfast each morning.
