Leucadia is a funky beachside community within the little South California beach town of Encinitas. My Monteverde Costa Rica Tree House Adventure
When the planes wheels touched down, I had this feeling that I was going to love Costa Rica. Here in San Jose, I was about to start my journey through Central America and someday, I repeat someday, maybe, it will end here as well. The first thing on the list was to find a place to lay my head.
I decided on a starting point, Costa Rica and after that, I left my plans open. There were those obvious things any traveler seeks: adventure, a new language and to see what each country offers. Here in Costa Rica, it is the bio-diversity. After San Jose, I jumped a bus to Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula.
If you like to spend a morning in the mountains and then the afternoon at the beach, know its possible in Costa Rica. I arrived happily in Santa Teresa, the sun and waves were the perfect welcoming agents. I lived at peace for two weeks on the beach. Doing only two things: reading and surfing.
After my fourth book on the beach, it was time to move on. If I plan on covering Central America in one year I should keep moving. My new friends suggested Monteverde and Santa Elena be my next destination for a variety of reasons. A 4 a.m. alarm, an early bus, ferry and one more bus landed me in the mountains again.
The bio-diversity of Monteverde will leave you speechless. It is beautiful. The animals, butterflies and reptiles are every color imaginable and everything else, well the rest is green. Make it point to walk in the cloud forest for a day or two and you will agree.
Before I left the states my family and friends offered up a variety of contacts in Costa Rica. And by luck, there was one in Monteverde. I woke up early in my hotel and decided to test my inner GPS. I was off to find this connection.
