The Yorkshire Dales National Park stretches from Swaledale in the north through to Wharfedale in the south. The Dales are blessed with some great transport links so although the National Park is large, travelling about is easy, whether you are in your own car or on public transport.
If you’re just planning on visiting the Dales for a weekend or short stay, it would probably be best to find a Yorkshire Dales hotel that is close to one of the small towns or villages within easy reach of the National Park. The beautiful Bolton Abbey estate, Yorkhsire home of the Duke of Devonshire, is at the very southern edge of the Dales and this area of the National Park can be easily reached on public transport from Leeds and Bradford.
